Canadian singer-songwriter Andy Shauf hails from Regina, Saskatchewan. He is a multi-instrumentalist, and he plays clarinet. Shauf was raised in Bienfait, Saskatchewan, where he was born, before relocating to Regina. He had access to many different instruments thanks to his parents’ operation of an electronics and music store. He and his dad performed Christian music.
Up until 2006, Shauf played drums for Captain, a Christian pop punk band. After releasing his debut album, Darker Days, in 2009, he went on to release the EPs Sam Jones Feeds His Demons (2010) and Waiting for the Sun to Depart (2010). (2012).
He independently released The Carrier of Bad News in 2012[5]. Tender Loving Empire and Party Damage Records reissued the album in 2015.
2015 saw Shauf sign with Arts & Crafts Productions in Canada and ANTI- worldwide. His debut song on both labels was the non-album single “Jenny Come Home,” which gave him his big radio break on CBC Radio 2’s Radio 2 Top 20 and CBC Radio 3.
