Brandi Marie Carlile is an American singer-songwriter and producer who was born on June 1, 1981. Her music is diverse and includes folk rock, alternative country, Americana, and classic rock. Carlile has seven studio albums out as of 2021. Including one for The Firewatcher’s Daughter (2015), six for By the Way, I Forgive You (2018), three for her role as producer and songwriter on Tanya Tucker’s album While I’m Livin’ (2019), and ten for In These Quiet Days, she has won nine Grammy Awards and garnered 25 Grammy nominations (2021).
During the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, she received six nominations, making her the most nominated woman overall. These nominations included Album of the Year (By the Way, I Forgive You), Record of the Year, and Song of the Year (“The Joke”). With Amanda Shires, Maren Morris, and Natalie Hemby, Carlile created the Highwomen in 2019, an all-female band. They achieved critical and commercial success with the release of their debut album, The Highwomen, in 2019, and in 2021 they won the Grammy Award for Best Country Song for the song “Crowded Table.”
