American rapper, singer, songwriter, record, and film producer, record executive, actor, and entrepreneur Lecrae Devaughn Moore was born on October 9, 1979. He was the co-founder and president of the now-defunct non-profit organization ReachLife Ministries, the president, co-owner, and co-founder of the independent record label Reach Records, an investor and co-owner of the audio production software MXD, and a co-founder of the film production company 3 Strand Films. As a solo artist, he has released 10 studio albums, three mixtapes, and countless singles. As the founder and leader of the hip-hop crew 116 Clique, he has released three studio albums, a remix album, an EP, and numerous songs. In addition to other early Reach Records records, he produced a large portion of his earlier work.
Lecrae was nominated for Artist of the Year at the 43rd, 44th, 45th, and 46th GMA Dove Awards, where he won the last one. He was also nominated for Best Gospel Artist at the 2013 and 2015 BET Awards, where he triumphed in the latter category—a first for a rapper. In addition to a role in the television movie A Cross to Carry (2012), Lecrae has appeared in the movies Believe Me (2014), Superfly (2018), and Breakthrough (a Christian drama) (2019). Lecrae has spoken out against racial injustice and tension in the United States and written about it. He has also fought to uphold fatherhood and responsibility as American male values.
